From the 13th century until the latter half of the 16th century, Turaida was R\u012bga Archbishops castle of economic significance, the centre of Archbishoprics Liv district, a residence of district`s governor and military fortification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/turaida-muzejs.lv\/en\/exhibitions\/open-air-exhibitions\/turaida-stone-castle-and-castle-mound\/\">Read more<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group alignfull has-base-2-background-color has-background has-global-padding is-layout-constrained wp-container-core-group-is-layout-2 wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\" style=\"margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;padding-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns alignwide is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-2 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:40%\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Folk Song Park, Dainu Hill<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The  Folk Song Hill<strong> <\/strong> was opened to the public on July 7, 1985, in honour of the 150<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the birth of folklorist Kri\u0161j\u0101nis Barons and with a performance of one of the folk songs that he collected \u2013 \u201cI Stood and Sang Atop a High Hill.\u201d&nbsp; Initially, the park had 15 sculptures by Indulis Ranka.&nbsp; People remember the date as a grand day for folk songs on Folk Song Hill.&nbsp; Poet J\u0101nis Peters told the gathering that \u201cthe Latvian folk song has never resounded on such a high hill.&nbsp; The church is located on the Church hill, which is an ancient church building place. Archaeological excavations testify that on this hill there have been previously built at least two churches. So-called castle districts were established around the castle of the archbishop in Turaida and around all of Livonia\u2019s important castles.&nbsp; The point to these was to collect fees.&nbsp; The Turaida Castle was a fortress, but also an economic centre at which the fees were collected and stored.&nbsp; An ancient tradition says that on the morning of March 25, which is M\u0101ra\u2019s Day, people must wash themselves in the stream, which flows toward the East, before the sun rises.&nbsp; Such people can expect to be strong and healthy.&nbsp;
