Mission
The mission of the Museum Reserve is to establish a harmonic society by demonstrating the development of the Latvian thinking and universal human values via the environmental, cultural and historical treasures which have been collected in and around Turaida during the past millennium.
Vision
The Historical Center of Turaida, preserved and maintained in the public interest, with its characteristic natural, cultural and historical environment, monuments, tangible and intangible cultural heritage, is a symbol of history and cultural landscape, promoting the image of Latvia and State of Latvia as a cultural tourism destination, is a reliable ally for the guardians of tangible and intangible cultural heritage and memory institutions and a modern bridge between cultural and historical heritage and society, ensuring a stable succession and development process of the Turaida Museum Reserve.
Strategic goals
To document the natural and cultural environment, monuments, tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Historical Center of Turaida and region and purposefully complete the collection of the Museum Reserve in order to maintain the historical memory.
By developing heritage value, further research and develop the scientific basis for the Historical Centers of Latvia in rural areas, their cultural and historical environment and natural elements in the regional and European context.
To preserve, maintain and restore the heritage of the Historical Centre of Turaida – the buildings-monuments, nature and cultural environment, tangible and intangible cultural heritage – in order to get to know the uniqueness and diversity of the Latvian cultural heritage and to create the image of Latvia.
To improve the forms and effectiveness of communication of the Museum Reserve for the development of the region and social stability, to develop cultural tourism and expand the target audience, promoting diversity and sustainability, being open, accessible and inclusive, creating a long-term contribution to society and economic development.
To ensure the harmonious coexistence between people and nature and a diverse heritage-based experience of education, emotional experience, reflection and knowledge exchange for the general public, sharing a contemporary, meaningful and ethical interpretation of heritage that enhances the quality of life, inspires, stimulates interest and promotes the inclusion of traditions in modern creativity.
To improve the functioning of the Museum Reserve as cultural heritage and memory institution, to ensure high level of management and professionalism of the staff.
