Sākumlapa Exhibitions Permanent exhibitions Exhibitions inside Turaida estate buildings

The exhibitions, which are located in the historical buildings of the manor’s outbuildings, are designed according to the original use of each building and fit into the overall narrative of Turaida Manor over 300 years. Out of the 22 buildings of the manor, the exhibitions are located in six – the rest are used for the functions of the Turaida Museum Reserve. Visitors have the opportunity to get acquainted with the following exhibitions. (The building in which the exhibition is located is indicated in brackets):

The House of the Corvée-Peasant

Old residence of the Estate Governor

Turaida Manor Drying kiln (Kiln)

Turaida Manor cart house (Cart house)

Woodworker’s workshop (Smithy)

Blacksmith’s Forge (Smithy)

Wool processing, weaving and knitting at Turaida Manor (Smithy)

The story of the manor (Smithy)

Latvian sauna traditions (Sauna)

Turaida Manor Pond Farming (Fish Cellar)

Fishing and fishing tools in the rivers and lakes around Turaida (Fish Cellar)

The other manor buildings, the pond cascade and the area with stands with information about the lost manor buildings – the House of the Knockers and the Swiss House – can also be seen as a single exhibition reflecting the cultural environment created during the manor’s existence. The former Turaida parish magazine, located on a hill next to the Turaida – Inciems road, is also part of the overall exhibition. Although by its status it does not belong directly to the manor buildings, it is an important part of the landscape of the manor ensemble and a testimony to the independence of the parish peasants from the manor.
